Home Studies
If you are a Nebraska resident and are working with an agency outside of Nebraska to adopt either internationally or domestically, Nebraska Christian Services can conduct your home study. If you choose to work with NCS to complete your home study, a Home Study Application packet will be sent to you. After receiving the completed information back, interview times will be scheduled. Nebraska adoption regulations require we spend a minimum of 6 hours with you. Generally, this will be completed in 4 to 5 interviews with you gathering information and providing adoption education. You also will be required to attend an adoption education workshop. If you are adopting internationally, you must complete at least 10 hours of adoption education.
A home study document will then be written based on the information gathered from the application packet, background checks, references, interviews and visit to your home. Once the home study is completed, it is current for one year. If you have not had a child placed into your home before your home study expires, a home study update will need to be completed. It consists of updating the information from the original home study. It does require one visit to your home and there is a small fee for the updated home study.
Post Placement Supervision
Once your child is placed into your home, post placement visits are conducted. Nebraska requires a minimum of two visits. Additional visits may be required by your placing country or placing state if adopting in the U.S. NCS will provide those services. All reports will be sent to the necessary agency to meet your post placement obligations.
